The “AML/CFT Compliance – Digital Transformation” Forum Successfully Concluded

The 11th Compliance Forum, titled “AML/CFT Compliance Digital Transformation,” was held from 27 to 28 November 2025 with the aim of strengthening the compliance framework of the banking sector and enhancing the implementation of international standards and national regulations on anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (AML/CFT).

The forum was jointly organised by the Bank of Mongolia, the Financial Information Unit (FIU), the Mongolian Bankers Association, and Khan Bank, with the participation of representatives from the Government, the National Council, member organisations of the Cooperation Council, as well as senior officials from the banking and financial sectors.

On the first day of the forum, the Head of the Financial Information Unit, Mr. B. Batbaatar, presented on the progress of Mongolia’s third National Risk Assessment (NRA) and the policy approaches guiding its implementation. Discussions also focused on solutions to strengthen Mongolia’s AML/CFT system, effectively mitigate national-level risks, and ensure effective preparation for the country’s next Mutual Evaluation (ME).

On the second day, compliance officers from banks, along with representatives of regulatory and law enforcement authorities, exchanged experiences on public-private cooperation in combating cybercrime, as well as on the use of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and technological advancements in AML/CFT activities.

The forum brought together government authorities, senior management of the banking sector, and compliance professionals to discuss future measures, effective preparation for the next mutual evaluation, and the implementation of controls related to digitalisation and cybersecurity. The two-day forum concluded successfully with productive discussions.
