FATF organized webinar on “Crowdfunding for Terrorism Financing”

FATF organized a webinar on "Crowdfunding or financing terrorism using public financing" on January 19, 2024.

Panelists of organizations such as FATF, United Nations Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate (CTED), and the Department of Finance, Canada participated in the webinar and discussed the guidance on “Crowdfunding for Terrorist Financing" issued by FATF in October 2023.

During the webinar, they discussed the methods used by terrorist groups to raise funds using crowdfunding, and challenges faced by those involved in crowdfunding, including investigative agencies, and best practices for countries and effectively combatting terrorist financing. They also emphasized the participation of the public and the private sector and exchanged opinions on how they can contribute to this problem.
